I call this "Grandaddy Cactus"

I used to wonder what was so beautiful about dried desert plants.

I don't wonder anymore.

Instead, I'm amazed at their uniqueness and splendor.

Can you believe this is the front of Yuma Prison! (that's Linda Mathers standing there)

The variety of terrain and climate in AZ is amazing. This is just north of Flagstaff.

Yes'um - there's snow in AZ.

The Verde Canyon Railroad - no snow, but cool enough to wear coats in December.

Sanddunes just across the AZ/CA border by Yuma. Star Wars was filmed here.

See that cloud of dust? That's a dune buggy. It was Christmas vacation and lots of families were camped there with their ATVs and buggies.

The park ranger said, "If it feels like you're sinking, just gun it." Linda said, "No way." I said, "Yes way!" And off we went - but not too far.
